The Dog-Gone Blues

We mourn the loss of a dear friend and companion, Kione Masser.
Kione died on Monday, November 21st, 2005, as a result of her Cushing's Disease.

Kione was 9 years old and was dearly loved by her family. She was always tender and sweet with the children, was always excited to see any of us, and was always right by our side when we needed her. She loved to run and play outside, take walks with us, and sleep as close to us as she could get. When she was younger, she'd play chase with the cat, play "sockie" for hours on end, and chew off our baseboards (oops!)...... She used to go on visits with us to see the elderly, and she brought them much joy. One of the first ladies she met on these visits was a Clara Helms, who was 100 when she met us and a grand 103 years old when she passed from this earth. Kione brought her endless joy!

Kione would give you the shirt off her back if she could and would never complain. Kione would be so patient when those babies and toddlers practiced what it meant to "be gentle" with their petting. Kione would faithfully alert you anytime anything of note happened in the neighborhood (like if the neighbor checked their mail!).

We loved that little pooch and it broke our hearts to watch Cushings Disease eat away at her body and spirit. Medication treatment did little for her. She is likely running the fields of puppy heaven as we speak, and hopefully smiling down upon us as we remember her sweet self.

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts! I didn't know losing a furry friend could be so sad.
